Found Gold
Last night marked the start of another MN fishing opener and as you can see we were able to get on the walleyes and "crush" them. I was joined last night by two good friends, Tony Groskreutz(top pic) of Chicago, and Brian Monette(bottom pic).
We opened the 2011 MN fishing opener on Lake Waconia and found "gold". This is the tale of a good Lake Waconia fishing opener fishing report! The weather and everything else really lined up well for us-the perfect storm. It was windy, cold, and gross-like how it is for most openers. The area we were fishing had the wind blowing in on it and got the fish turned on to feed. This time for whatever reason not many people seemed to be on the lake and we were able to have the "juice" all to ourselves. It is my #1 all time spot and last night it proved itself worthy of that title.
Here is the one secret hint I will tell you about this bite-we didn't fish any live bait! We caught all these fish crank'n! And there were no slouches in the bunch. We never caught a fish under 25"!
Final tally- 30", 28.5", 27", 26" and 2-25". We also tore 2 others off boat side. This was all before 3 a.m. I am off to run and find the crankbaits I need to replace the few we lost last night and then will be back at it. It was a night I will not soon forget. Something I cherish, work hard for, and was so glad to get to share with Tony and Moe. Until next time, Fish On!
