Bull Gills!

Now that Walleye/Pike season has closed we all switch gears in search of bluegills a.k.a. Bull Gills! It is the time of year when we don't have to have a 20 foot heated shelter to bear the elements. 30 degrees actually feels warm, and allows us to fish outside. When the snow begins to melt and you spend all afternoon hole hopping in search of fish like the ones Matt and Mike caught.
These pics were sent to me from good friend and fishing partner Matt Rauenhorst. As you can see, Matt and Mike had a very successful day on Saturday.
As for me...well I didn't fair as well on Saturday in my search for bull gills. Mayo, Ringus, Cooley, and myself went out on a small lake by Waconia and came up empty. Fishing is all about timing. When the fish are going to bite, when you are going fishing, and when you decide to move from an area in search of a better area?! We fished the afternoon, and came to find out that the fish bite very well at dark and after. Unfortunately for us we couldn't stay out that late so we had to quit before it got good. I will be back at it again later this week.
