Open Water!!!

The nice weather on Saturday finally gave me a chance to get my boat out and chase some walleyes on the river!  This was one of only two walleyes I was able to boat on Saturday evening.  Never the less it was great to get on open water again and great to get the summer rods out.  Almost missed the first bite due to the fact that I forgot that I am supposed to set the hook when I feel a tick at the end of my rod!  Mizy was my fishing partner for the evening and was not able to put any walleyes in the boat...oops did I say that out loud!  He was able to catch a crappie so he didn't go totally skunked.  As soon as the weather comes back around I will be at it again.             

Another Donkey!

These are truely amazing fish!  Here is a picture of another Donkey that was caught on our recent trip to Canada.  Thanks again to "Gussy"!!

Okie vs. Trout

Big congrats to Okie for his great trout!   He was attempting to catch walleyes when he hooked up with this Lake Trout, and an hour and a half later it finally came up the 8" hole!!  This was the biggest Trout of the trip, pushed the 30 pound mark.

This is a shot of Okie (Bryan Okubo) about 45 minutes into his marathon fight.  He was fishing with a 28" Jason Mitchell Elite Series ice rod and a reel spooled with 6lb Maxima!!  Have you ever seen a rod bend like that?!  Imagine that for an hour and half.  This fish nearly spooled him a few times.  Great job Okie!
