Ice Conditions

For those of you fishwithmatt.com readers that are looking for your early season ice report and metro area ice conditions.....I have some info. I ice fished Lake Waconia last night(2nd outing) and can tell you the ice conditions are great. I had a solid 2" of ice under my feet most of the entire time. I found a few areas with a little more than that, but there are still some areas of thin ice-even OPEN water. If you plan on venturing out this weekend before or after the ice show, please be very careful and use caution when heading out.
Lake Minnetonka is a little behind on it's ice development....as always. It is a big body of water and takes more to freeze. The bays and many areas of the lake are starting to freeze up and show signs of trying to lock tight. I believe if we continue with these cool nights we could be fishing many areas of Lake Minnetonka this next week.
I am headed to Clam Corp today to pick up my new shelter and then will be back on the ice some where this afternoon. More Lake Waconia and Lake Minnetonka ice reports and fishing reports to come Until next time, Fish On!
