Fishing with Rock Tenn

Recently fished a corporate outing on Lake Minnetonka with Rock-Tenn out of St. Paul and caught a few nice fish.  We were trying to catch bass when we landed this great pike.  We did end up with a few bass but no giants.

Big News!

I have some exciting news to announce. I have inked three new sponsors for the 2009-2010 season. I have been waiting to make this announcement; now that terms have been agreed upon I am excited to spread the news.

The first is Mosaic which is going to be my new title sponsor for my new 2010 Z520 Ranger powered by a 250 HP HO Evinrude Etech! Mosiac is a world leader in crop nutrients. Crop nutrients are essential to feeding a growing global population. That's where Mosaic comes in. They help the world grow the food it needs. Mosaic is engaged in every phase of crop nutrition development - from the mining of resources to the production of crop nutrients and industrial and feed products for customers around the globe. This is going to be a great opportunity for me and I look forward to working with Mosaic for many years to come. Keep your eyes out for the new Mosaic boat going down the road or on a lake near you. If you see it, swing in and say hi! I am always looking to chat fishing.

The second is Flies For Fly Fishing.  Flies for Fly Fishing is a fly wholesaler based locally here in Minnesota. They ship flies all over the world for all species. They have over 3 million flies in stock and can accommodate any size of order, from one fly to as many as you may want. If you or anyone you know is interesting in getting some flies please contact them and Todd will get you taken care of. I appreciate you supporting Flies for Fly Fishing, and all my other sponsors.

The third is G.W. Rede.  G.W. Rede is a full service business providing green or high-performance residential and, in the future, commercial building new construction, remodeling, products, and services. The term “green” or “high-performance” means a significantly reduced impact on the Earth’s resources compared to conventional building. In other words, G.W. Rede is committed to making our clients home and office (and the building/construction industry in general) eco-friendly.

A big thanks to my new and existing sponsors. Fish on!

Gamakatsu/Spro

I recently got to spend a day on the water with Yugo Fiji, Kentaro Hara, and Syd Rives - the owners and managers of two of my great sponsors, Gamakatsu hooks and Spro. We managed to catch some nice bass on Lake Minnetonka and one small muskie. We started the morning looking for walleyes but didn't manage to boat any.

I can not tell you how great these guys were to fish with. It was a pleasure and an honor to get to spend a day in the boat with them. I am lucky enough to help them develop some new products. I am going to help design baits, hooks, and help them expand their product line. They are already the world leader in hooks but they are not happy just being the best, they are always striving to be better and make better products. I look forward to working with them.

Here is Syd with his first ever muskie!  A bit on the small side, but not bad for a jig worm fish.  Congrats on getting the muskie smell on your hands Syd.
