Mille Lacs Crush

Erik Rasmussen and myself recently enjoyed the power of Mille Lacs.  It was a total crush session.  If you or anyone you know would like to get in on some killer smallie action please contact me in the next few weeks.  We will be making two trips back to the big pond next week.  The sad part of this day came when we returned to the boat ramp and realized someone had stolen all of my muskie fishing gear out of the back of my truck.

Most of our action came on tube jigs in and around the rocks.

Erik was putting on a clinic early in the day.

I came on strong late in the day with the 2 big fish of the day coming in at 19" and 20".

The Grand Slam

Last week we accomplished the "grand slam" of freshwater fishing.  We boated a muskie over 40", a walleye over 28", and an over 20" largemouth! I would think this has rarely ever been accomplished.  Needless to say Chris, Brian, and myself had a great day on the water.

This giant walleye chowed in the middle of the afternoon on a calm, hot, and sunny day.  Kind of odd for walleyes.  Gues she was hungry.  After a few quick photos, I released her back to fight again.

Our ten best bass would have weighed about 40+ pounds!

Why?

I can not think of many words...I am left speechless.  Only thing that comes to mind is why?  What I am referring to is today's incident.

Went to Mille Lacs this morning and decided that we would leave the muskie stuff until later in the day since we were going to chase smallmouth for most of the day.  Arriving back to the ramp tonight in Cove Bay we noticed my tail gate down on my truck.  That was when the"why's?" started.  I have a pick up box cover so they dropped the tail gate and stole every piece of muskie fishing equipment that I owned....owned.  I know longer own it because someone decided they needed it worse than me.  I am writing this to keep myself from getting to upset and to warn you all.  If you are headed to Mille Lacs, leave nothing in your truck.  After calling the sheriff he stated that in the last 2 or 3 days they have had numerous reports of theft at boat ramps.

Keep your eyes out, you never know when you may witness a crime.  This happened in the middle of a boat ramp, in the middle of the day.

Northern Wholesale Tourney

This past Wednesday Scott and myself attended the Northern Wholesale bass tourney on Lake Minnetonka.  The event was MC'd by Jimmy Houston.  We didn't get a ton of bites but we did manage a few good bites.  We probably caught 12 legal keepers all day.  The tournament consisted of 63 boats from all over MN.  We had the upper hand since it was on one of my home lakes.  These are two of our better fish from the day.
