Here We Go Again

Welcome to the world through the eyes of Matt Peters!  As Yung Joc says, "Meet me in the mall, it's goin down, meet me in the club, it's goin down!"  I have a new hook I would like to add to the song, "Meet me in the lake, it's goin down!"

Once again the ice got the best of me!  Here are a few pictures from an adventure on Lake Minnetonka on Sunday.  As you can see, we bit off more than we could chew.  We were able to get the house out thanks to some help from , Jason, Peter, Nig, and Joel.  The bite has been fairly slow.  We will be back at it tonight.  More pics and stories to come soon.

This is the after-math when your house doesn't go across the pressure ridge, but rather through it.  I think this year has caused me life long trauma.  New website; anexperiencewithmatt.com!  gothroughicewithmatt.com!  We will have to get those up and running.  Talk at you all soon.

Why Oh Why??

For those of you that don't know; I joined the polar club earlier than expected this year.  Two weeks ago, I was riding my four wheeler across Lake Waconia and took a polar plunge.  The ice I was traveling across gave way and down I went with my four wheeler.  Obviously I am still here to talk about it.  I also was able to get the wheeler out, that leads me into what happen last night.

Last night I was out fishing on Lake Minnetonka and it must have gotten pretty cold.  The fish weren't cooperating so early this morning I packed up and headed for shore.  As I approached shore I went to let off the throttle and it was stuck wide open.  The four wheeler was going 30 mph and headed for a parking lot of cars.  The moisture that got in the throttle cable from going through the ice a few weeks back caused it to freeze over night.   After some quick goat thinking, I turned the key off and was able to get the machine stopped in time.

I sit at my office asking myself why I continue to chase a sport and species that is so dangerous.  I put my life in jeopardy day in and day out to have a chance of catching a few fish.  Is it the thrill of the chase,  the edge of your seat antics that give us the increased heart rate, or the feeling of reward when we are successful?  It is a combination of a lot of things.  There is no one thing that I can put my finger on as to why I do the things I do.

I am alive today not because I am always smart, but because I  have not caught every fish yet....No totally kidding.  Sitting here I just get thinking about why we end up in certain situations.  What is it that I am here to do, besides fish?  I feel like that is all life is about, but obviously god is trying to tell me otherwise.  What am I suppose to take away from these thrilling antics?  At that, I am going to get back to work.  Have lots to get done before I can get back out on the lake tonight!

Oh, by the way, I only caught one walleye last night.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!   Have a wonderful '07!
