Gravel Lizards

Fished on Monday night and Tuesday day on Mille Lacs with a few guys and struggled to really find the fish.  We fished on the gravel/rock in about 28 feet of water.  We did choax a few walleyes (gravel lizards) into eating our baits.   This was one of the better fish I caught, as you see it was very skinny, not what I am used to catching around the metro.  The metro walleyes seem to be so fat you wonder how they could ever eat, but the Mille Lacs fish look like there on a diet.  With fish that look this skinny and hungry a guy would think he would be able to get them all to bite.

Getting around off the road was a challenge therefore getting to the area we wanted to was not happening.  We got close but I am convinced we were not close enough.  The old moto is, 80% of the fish live on 20% of a spot.  Finding that so called "honey hole", is hard to do when there is 20 plus inches of snow.  Regardless we had fun and enjoyed our time on the ice.
