Wildy Walleyes Are Biting

Amazing how much easier it is to catch walleyes when your hook is in the water. I have been an arm chair fisherman the last week, but last night I changed that. My schedule has been a bit crazy the last month or so. I got home from Missouri one week ago and had not been able to get out walleye fishing but once on Minnetonka. The bite was tough the night I was out.
The wind and weather has been a large factor. I don't ever remember the wind blowing day after day. One day it's out of the north at 20 plus and the next day it is out of the south at 20 plus. I finally gave in last night and told myself it was time to do battle. I arrived at the first spot and with in 10 minutes had boated a 2o" walleye. We continued to fish the area with jigs and leeches and managed to pull 6 or 7 more fish off this very small spot. The quality of fish was very good, I would have liked to catch a few more (never good enough), but for my first time chasing walleyes on Waconia I was pleased. Waconia always seems to put out nice fish for me. It has year after year. These fish all fell victim to a pink jig and either a leech or a minnow. The bite is going to continue to be good for the next few weeks. So get your reel spooled up, grab some bait, and get on the water.
