Huntwithmatt.com "Buck Down"-Shane R.

Back from a great weekend of deer hunting in southern MN.  As you can see both Jeremy and Shane were successful in there quest for a whitetail buck deer.

My luck wasn't so good.  I saw some small bucks on opening morning that I let walk for a future chance.  "Let them go so they can grow", was my attitude for this deer hunting season.  Sat evening I did see one nice buck chasing a doe, but was not comfortable with the shot through the heavy cover so I held up.  My biggest concern was possibly wounding the animal and not finding it.  Sun morning I sat in stand again but did not see anything but squirrels.

I would like to say thanks to Shane for inviting me down to hunt on his property.  I also want to say thanks for putting up with all of us for two days.  All together I think there was 8 of us that made the venture to deer camp this year.  There were four deer shot and many other passed up opportunities.  The property we hunt has some giant deer on it.  We have proof in trail camera pictures.  Of the giant bucks that we got on camera over the last two months neither of the two bucks taken were ever photographed.

I am now going to be focusing my attention on bow hunting in Wis, and the upcoming slug season on Iowa.  Shane get your act together, we need to be going to Iowa to scout.  We have giants to shoot.  Then we will be ice fishing!!  I will keep you all posted on the upcoming adventures.PB050005.JPG

Shane Raveling with a nice MN buck.  You can see that the one side of his rack broke when he went down.  It was really to bad cause it was a pretty nice deer.
