Becky Frank Invitational

becky%20frank%20invitational.JPG

This past Saturday Travis organized a fundraiser fishing event for his sister Becky.  It was the 1st Annual Becky Frank Invitational.  Becky is going to Africa for 6 months to make a difference.  So we thought it was only appropriate that we donate some of our time and energy to send her off with a little spending money.  As you can see the event was a success and the weather was great!!  The fishing could have been better but I do believe almost everyone involved caught something.

Our boat managed a few nice bass and a 44" muskie that was caught by Tim.  Tim caught this fish on a jig worm and 8lb test, he did a great job fighting it and keeping it from breaking his line.  We snapped a quick photo and released this great fish back to the water.  Congrats Tim!

FishWithMatt!!

mattr%20smallie.JPG

Yes I was able to fishwithmatt on Friday.  Matt Rauenhorst that is.  Was joined on Mille Lacs by Matt Rauenhorst and Jay Moore for a day of bass fishing.  We were able to catch some nice smallmouth and largemouth.  Matt R. lead the charge with numerous fish over 4 pounds.

All of our fish came shallow on tube jigs and senko's.

This was Jay's best smallmouth coming in at about 19"!  It was the tail of two days in one, for the first half of the day it was foggy and cold.  We wore rain gear until 1 o'clock and then it all burned off and got very nice out.  We were wearing short sleeves by early afternoon.

Look at the belly on this female.  Think she is getting ready to spawn.  There were very few fish on beds, but they were starting to move shallow to get ready to spawn.

Pretty Cool MN Bound Article!!

MN Bound has selected me for their get-to-know'm section of their website.  It is an area for them to showcase the men and woman of MN outdoors.  It is an honor to be selected for this.  Take a minute and check it out and I think you will enjoy reading about how I got to where I am today!  It really should be an article dedicated to my Mom and Dad for all their support.  Thanks Mom and Dad!!!  I also want to say a big "Thank You" to each and everyone of my clients and sponsors that have helped me get to where I am today.

Got Bass?

tim%20bass.JPG

Tim, Rachel, and myself ventured out for an evening of bass and walleye chasing.  The largemouth action was decent but the walleye action was a bit slow.  As the water continues to warm two things are going to happen.  First the bass are going to move into the shallows and spawn very soon.  Second, the walleyes are going to get more concentrated on there favorite post-spawn summer reefs.  We are catching the walleyes on jig's tipped with either a minnow or a leech.

The theme to this spring has been a late ice out and a cool spring.  This results in numerous things.  One of the most notable is the lack of weeds.  The weed growth is behind just like the water temps and the fish.  If you can find good green weeds you will find bass close by.  Many of there usual haunts have no weeds yet.; therefore hold no fish.  I am at Mille Lacs while I write this report, I will have more to come soon.
